Extra 101: A boy confined with his own limits writes a story about a boy confined with his own limits and so on.
In Term 1, Me and many other classmates participated within a writing competition. This competition lasted until the beginning of April and we had a word limit of 750 words. Which I got really bummed about.
This is the story I wrote called: A Boy's Limits.
When Jack woke up - he got off his bed and he started running towards the park. Jack’s parents saw Jack run to the sunset, and they were surprised because Jack had truly gone, beyond his own backyard.
This is the story I wrote called: A Boy's Limits.
This is the story about a boy confined within his own limits. The boy’s name is Jack - an Intermediate student who is just living his life like everybody else. But Jack isn’t a normal person. As said earlier - Jack can only do things he knows how to do. So if he does writing, he just does writing over and over without question.
His parents didn’t really seem to mind. When the teachers ask - Jack’s parents always say the same thing, “He’s just stuck somewhere - he’ll grow out of it.” If Jack did continue on doing what he was doing - he could be a famous author.
But eventually he will get bored, he will have nothing to do. So what will he do after he ends his writing hobby? This is what our story is about.
One day - The boy named Jack was writing a fantasy piece about a boy confined to his own limits. Suddenly, his mind just went blank. Boom, bang, gone. Jack tried to gain his senses back. It did succeed and he carried on writing - he thought it was just nothing. Then it happened again - and again. Was it just a blackout, or him just passing out?
Only god - or the person controlling him knows.
Jack decided to take a break - but he didn’t know how to take a break. So Jack just sat there. Emotionless, with nothing to do. He saw a book - he didn’t know what to do. He retraced his earlier years and he saw kids reading books. He decided to give it a try.
The bell went and he just decided to go home without any thought, that is what Jack did every day, he just walked home. All by himself.
When Jack got home - his mother said, “Hello Jack! How was your day? Good, I assume?” Jack nodded and went to his room to write. But just like what happened in school, Jack had problems writing a narrative. He thought that he would've just run out of ideas.
Jack sat in his room for an hour. He was only holding his pencil and his writing book was just lying there on his bed. Then, after those few hours - Jack felt numb, and he fell asleep. He couldn’t control it - so he just let it happen as said earlier, he had no control.
Jack had a vision, his visions told him that he should always do other things instead of writing, like singing or athletics. His vision didn’t last very long. But in those few minutes of pure darkness and sound - Jack learnt so much about himself.
When Jack woke up - he got off his bed and he started running towards the park. Jack’s parents saw Jack run to the sunset, and they were surprised because Jack had truly gone, beyond his own backyard.
Fun 101: Rocking out with acoustic guitars!
Alright, so the guitars weren't electric. But this team, we have been learning to play and acoustic guitar and we have been learning a few songs that are in our music books.
I thought that this term of music was amazing as we got to learn new things such as new songs, chords and new ways of playing guitar. Down below is a video of my music group playing Polly Wolly Doodle. Please enjoy our singing even though my voice can be heard as I am better at singing. (I'm only joking. :3)

Knowledge 101: Our art trip in a nutshell.
For our Week 10 inquiry which didn't last 20 minutes, we had to do a reflection our our Turangawaewae art trip. So we filled out all these questions and we also have something else we are working on which we will show you guys next week. So for now, enjoy these questions and answers highlighted in red.
Turangawaewae Inquiry Metacognition - The Power Of Reflection (copy and paste)
- You created 3 pieces of art in class. Which one were you most proud of and why?
- The best one I did was my Hei Tiki as I got to try a few techniques and I was able to spread out my pieces within my own way to make it look unique.
- You were asked to submit your very own/individual piece of art that represented you and something you were inspired by. Explain in more detail about this…
- The piece I created was the letters HNI going down on a slope. I call it “Pinned On The Map” I got my inspiration from the pin wall at the Napier Museum.
- You learnt some new skills during our term of art - cross hatching, colour composition, maori motifs, patterns and symmetry. Choose one and explain in more detail exactly what you learnt.
- My favorite was the symmetry as It was a challenge to repeat one side and have it flipped on the other side. My class uses this for our final piece we made for the exhibition.
- Our trip around Hawke’s Bay was to inspire us. Describe what your highlight was from this trip and why.
- My highlight was the Napier Museum because It was really interesting to see many exhibits and I got my inspiration for my custom art piece there.
- If we carried out this Turangawaewae Inquiry topic again, what would you change/do differently?
- I do not have an answer.
- Identify one person's artwork that you are impressed by. Explain why?
- I’m impressed by Sunshine’s custom piece as It is unique from what anybody did before and I think it would make a great addition to the Art Exhibition we are having.
