In Materials Technology, we design and made a USB. This is the process we went through in making our USB.
Hi! I am a year seven student at Havelock North Intermediate. I am in room 10 and my teacher is Miss OB.

Knowledge 101: Information about a device on a device.
For around a week or so, we have been doing this thing called Alphabet Research. Each day we pick a letter that hasn't been done, we got a word with that letter and we research it! I decided to do D - Digital Devices. This is the exact slide. So enjoy reading my work!

Knowledge 101: Who ate my donut?
For one of our recent activities, we did a diagram on something. I did my diagram on a donut. We first started by going outside and picking an object. Then we did a diagram on it. The next day, we did a Digital Diagram which is how I made the digital donut. Here it is right below!

Fun 101: Edible Technology!
Yesterday In Room 10, our class split into four or five groups and we had a technology challenge! Me, Luca, Blake and Imogen got together to make the tallest tower we could make! Of course we didn't make the tallest but we thought that we had the smartest design. Here are the photos taken by our wonderful teacher, Miss OB. (Our group is on the top left.)
Fun 101: Its a mutant!
In class, Miss OB gave a task - to design an animal which is made up out of two sea creatures or one sea creature or one sea creature and one animal - this is a google drawing I made about my animal - The Butterfin.

Fun 101: Death within a quad.
In Week 1 of Term 2, some Sheppard classes played a new game called Quad Death, the game has teams of 4 battling it out to get all the balls into one quad. We all each had a document to write our what we think the rules are, and to also write some game adaptions, this is what I wrote about the game!

Quad Death
Writing Purpose: To inform other HNI students the rules of the game and to develop our creative thinking ability.
Audience: Miss O’B, Mr Harman and HNI students
Use your creativity to come up with 3 alternative names for this very exciting game!

Imagine another class here at HNI has not played this game before. Complete the rules below to clearly describe the aim of the game and exactly what the rules are.
Aim of the game: To get 3-4 balls into a team's section. If this happens, they get a point. The team with the least points wins.
Rules:
1. The teams must be balanced. The recommended game size is 2-4 classrooms. Separate into four teams which will go into each section.
2. At the start of a round, each team must have at least one ball to start with. They cannot start throwing until the whistle is blown.
3. Adults must be at every boundary to collect balls if players cannot reach to the balls.
4. No player within the quads can stand up on their feet. They can be on their knees to throw but standing up will cause them to sit out for 10 seconds.
5. If at least 4 balls are in one quad at a time, they get a point towards their team. Once this happens, the game must stop and every team must receive at least 1 ball to start the game over.
6. If playing in an environment with expensive items, eg stage lights, electronics and projectors, any balls thrown from a sector that come close to hitting one expensive object will have a point given to that sector.
7. The team with the least points wins the game.
8. The ref always has the final say, no matter what.
9. 4 Balls must be in a sector for at least 1.5 seconds for the point to count. The point doesn't count if 1 ball goes out before then.
Game Adaptations
Use your creative thinking to explore possible adaptations to this game to enhance both the fun factor and the ability to win the game. I have given you one example for each category but challenge yourself with other ideas and thinking.

Knowledge 101: Complicated Maths!
Starting at the end of Term 1, two maths groups tried to solve the volume of 3d shapes that aren't cubes or cuboids. I was in one of those groups and I got the volume of a Triangular Prism and I got the volume of a Triangular Pyramid. Here is my working out. WARNING: Complicating maths inbound!
The hardest shape was the Triangular Pyramid, however It got stuck in my brain after a few attempts of solving it, I even showed my assistant teacher how to solve a triangular pyramid. #NotShowingOff.
| My totally amazing working out. Left side is Triangular Prism and the right side is the Triangular Pyramid. |
