Knowledge 101: Boom, bang and pow!

         See
  • Flames of fire used as drums
  • People sweating
  • The flames glowing in front of you
  • Saw smiles on peoples faces
  • People rummaging for their ears
  • The mallet striking the murumba
  • The drumsticks hit the drum skin
  • I could see wonder woman lightly  tapping the hi-hat
  • Someone try as hard as they can to break their stick
  • The glow from the flames

      Feel
  • Excited and hoping to be chosen
  • Vibration of drums banging
  • Feel heart thumping in chests
  • I could feel the vibration underneath
  • Felt like an earthquake
  • I felt awake

        Hear
  • Vibrations that are piercing
  • I couldn’t hear the person next to me
  • Rain
  • Drummers swacking like birds.
  • The ring of the symbol
  • Heard the vibrations in their face

The STRIKE performance was an earthquake in a nutshell - the floor was vibrating and I thought that the lights would flicker due to the large soundwaves going off from the drums. I was right in the front so I got the most volume.

I was involved in one of the acts where we had 1 stick and we had to tap at a certain type of drum (or device you hit.) and we had to be in rhythm with it and the audience made me and the others go faster.

One performance shocked us all, a FIRE SONG! They had these spray bottles with chemicals and they sprayed the fire in a “song” like way. I was whispering to the person next to me “I think their gonna set off a fire alarm!”

The STRIKE Percussion group made my day with that loud, warm and delightful performance.

Knowledge 101: Comics with a Maori twist!

In class, we got to go on a new website called ToonDoo - you get to make static cartoons with tons of fun options! My maori words were related to the Maori and I showed two of them in my comic. The main focus of the comic is that there is a bear learning Maori words on his tablet, while the other bear is confused - Bear 2 asks Bear 1 about what he is doing. He saids he is learning Maori words and Bear 1 invites Bear 2 to learn with him. Below is my comic I made with the website!

Fun 101: Who knew crabs could play soccer?

For our Monday P.E session - it was raining outside but we still wanted to do P.E - so we went into our school hall and did some warm up's first and then we played a game of Crab Soccer.

Our warm up's were simple relays from one side of the hall and back. Then the game of Crab Soccer begins. It was intense - goal after goal. In the right hand corner of the hall within the video - I'm in a battle with other people to see if I can give my team the ball.

Looks like rain can't stop any fun in Room 10.

Knowledge 101: Writing! Only for 56 small payments of FREE!

Usually in the mornings inside Room 10 - we do some Free Writing as to like... warm up our fingers?
This is my favorite piece - about a Chef making the best sandwich in the world.

“We will be right back! Here are some messages from our sponsors!”

“HEY KIDS!”

“I bet you're just sitting there right now and wondering what you want to eat for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! Well don't you worry as I’ve got the solution for you! The Greatest Sandwich in the WOOOOOOOOORLD!”

“To make the Greatest Sandwich in the WOOOOOOOOOORLD! You need some ingredients! You’ll need the classics like bread, tomato, ham, cheese and maybe a bit of PB and J in there if you like. Now listen carefully - Scientists say that you must put the ingredients on VERY carefully or the sandwich won’t taste as great.”

“Now. We are going to start off by putting the lettuce carefully onto the bread and we we will follow it up by putting some ham on. After that - if you are having PB and J then you should put it on now. Put the cheese and tomato on!”

“But… there is one ingredient we forgot to put in… one ingredient that would change the sandwich game forever… Tomato Sauce! (Or ketchup if your from Murica.) Just pour all the contents on without any thought! Then throw on some more cheese, ham and finally lettuce.”

“You should now have the GREATEST SANDWICH IN THE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORLD! Did you enjoy your meal? If you did, great! Now onto the next public message that you must watch instead of making this really good sandwich.”

“But before I go! Scientists and doctors also say that this is the most healthiest sandwich you can have! So you better make it 24/7/365!”

“I’m Chef Neilson if you didn’t know that - remember to buy my cookbook and you will have a good appetite all year round! Now back to your show as we took up the entire time slot for commercials…”

“Thank you Chef Neilson! Now back to our show about how wild animals should be kept in zoos!”

20 YEARS LATER…

“Hi! I’m Chef Neilson the II and I’m here to talk about the GREATEST SANDWICH IN THE WOOOOORLD! MK 2. This could fill you up for Breakfast, Lunch and DInner!”
